Thrilling world cup finals in Val di Sole: Floriane Pugin second overall!

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Floriane Pugin finished the world cup season 2011 with another 2nd place at the finals in Val di Sole, Italy.
Her incredible consistency also brought her the 2nd place in the overall world cup, 75 Points behind Tracey Moseley.
Floriane looked unbeatable on this track during the whole trainings, but her french mate Miriam Nicole took her first ever world cup win with a total kamikaze run.

Emilie Siegenthaler also attacked hard and made it to another very good 6th place, finishing the world cup overall on 7th.

SCOTT11′s men didn’t have a very good day as Nick Beer came down with a mechanical problem and Fabien Pedemanaud crashed into a tree during his run.

It was a hot and tough week for all the athletes here in Val di Sole. By the time the race started, the track was blown out and extremely rough.

But you all know what comes now:
One more week to go, and then starts what SCOTT11 has been preparing for during the last 3 years. The one thing that the whole mountain bike world has been looking forward to: The world championships on the steepest track in the world in Champéry, Switzerland!

5 Medals for SCOTT11 at Swiss Championships in Zermatt

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

A very special weekend in Zermatt ended with 5 medals for SCOTT11.
The fantastic scenery in one of the most beautiful places in the world and the blue sky during sundays finals, as well as the very friendly and helpful people in the town of Zermatt, helped to forget about the inconveniences before the race. The characteristics of the town of Zermatt had its challenges prior to the race.

The race track was very beautiful, natural, difficult, long, rough and demanding. It was very nice, except for the fact that most of the jumps were so big that not even the best athletes were able to clear them during the race. Therefor, most of the athletes chose to ride around the jumps in the race run.

Nick Beer kept his focus on what was important, the Swiss Champions title, which he won with a lead of 7 seconds!
So did Emilie Siegenthaler, with a lead of even 20 seconds!
Also, Junior Freddy Hunziker pinned it hard and won the silver medal.

After the downhill, it was time for the Fourcross Championships, and again, SCOTT11 Athletes were playing a dominant role:
Adrian Weiss won silver in a hard fight, and Emilie Siegenthaler won the title in her first fourcross race of the year, racing against world cup proven athletes like Luzia Oetjen and Rachel Seydoux.

NICK BEE R AND FLORIANE PUGIN ON THE PODIUM AT THE UCI IN WINDHAM.

All or nothing was the style of riding for Nick Beer, and so it was for the rest of the mens field. Nick Beer attacked to the max and made it to the world cup podium for the first time in his life! The fifth place in Windham is also the first world cup podium for Switzerland since 2002! Nick places 12th in the world cup overall.

Floriane Pugin was giving her best to handle the fast and rough course and also made it to the fifth place. She managed to step on the podium at every single race of this years world cup, which puts her onto 4th place in the 2010 world cup!

Fabien Pedemanaud was happy that his shoulder is back in shape and was working on his speed this week. He ended up in 21st place which was good enough to keep him in the top ten overall. Fabien is 9th in the 2010 world cup!

Emilie Siegenthaler had another solid run into her favorite 9th place, which put her into 13th overall position.

With all those great results, SCOTT11 won the world cup finals team ranking. SCOTT11 is placing second in the overall world cup 2010!

UCI MTB World Cup DH in Windham

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Our Scott 11 Team is in Windham now for the UCI World Cup. Read their report below:
“The sun was out today in Windham, but the unusual slippery american dirt made the track really tricky. The riders were having trouble trying to get used to it and finding their rhythm on a track that actually looks quite fast. The weather though is supposed to stay dry which could change the conditions until sunday.

Floriane Pugin and Emilie Siegenthaler were already riding their 2011 Voltage DH frames, and while I’m writing these lines, our mechanics are building the new Gamblers for Fabien Pedemanaud and Nick Beer.”

Some good ranking news: Floriane Pugin moved to the first spot in the UCI world ranking because of her silver medal at the european championships, and
Nick Beer moved to 9th place at the world ranking because of his silver medal.

Val Di Sole DH World Cup review

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Back from Val Di Sole. Our team rider Floriane Pugin of the Scott 11 team ended up on the podium with a great 5th place. Her team mate Emilie Siegenthaler is back on speed after her injury and finished the race on 9th place.

And our newest Downhill team addition the Austrian Markus Pekoll came in 9th.

BELOW IS THE OFFICIAL RACE REPORT OF THE SCOTT 11 TEAM:

A rather difficult weekend with little disappointments at the mens race still brought SCOTT11 closer to the top position in the team ranking.

Again, it was Floriane Pugin which was responsible for the collection of the most points for her team. With the fifth place, she added another podium to her palmares and kept SCOTT11 on the second overall spot.

Emilie Siegenthaler is back on speed after her injury and finished the race on 9th place.

Fabien Pedemanaud kept himself in the overall top ten with an almost inhuman effort. His incredible will and several roles of tape around his injured shoulder kept him on the bike on the roughest course of the year. Fabien finished in 28th spot and is now sitting in 10th overall position.

Nick Beer wasn’t able to attack as hard as he wanted to, trying to make sure not to crash again. A 21st spot brought him to the 19th overall.

Nick, Emilie, Floriane and Freddy are now flying to Norway for the European Championships, while Fabien is already on the way home to treat his shoulder for the most important races of the year in Windham (NY) and Mont Sainte Anne, Kanada.

Training at UCI MTB World Cup in Champéry

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

scott11 uci mtb champery 2010 1 scott 11 uci mtb champery 2010The Scott 11 team is in Champéry for the UCI MTB World Cup. The 1. practice on the Downhill World Cup track confirmed what everybody already knew: it’s steep! But other than in 2007, riders have the choice between the radical straight lines and the flowing round lines. It took quite a bit of thinking finding the best option for every rider.

The weather stayed dry during practice which was highly appreciated by the athletes who needed a bit of time to get used to such a steep track. Though, it started raining hard thursday evening, and it might be a whole new story today.

Fabien Pedemanaud has some problems with his shoulder, as he dislocated it during the french championships and did the same today landing from a jump without even crashing. We hope that he’s going to be able to race after the treatment of his physio.

Emilie Siegenthaler is back from her injury break and is very happy to be back on her bike!

Floriane Pugin is one of the two girls who managed to jump all of the big jumps on the track.

Watch the race on freecaster.com. The LIVE action starts Saturday 24th at 13:15 CET with the women’s DH, followed by the men’s race. Go to http://freecaster.tv/live/mtb/1011052
