Stoked to share these news of Ricardo Laguna with you:
“When I got the invitation to go back to my hometown of La Paz, Mexico to receive a key to the city, and better yet, build a dirt park named after me, it felt like an April Fool’s phone call. Little did I know, it was the real deal and a once in a lifetime opportunity! After more than 13 years since my last visit, I was honored to be asked to bring 2 friends – Dalton Campbell and Jake Kinney – to help me design and help build a dirt park plus get a chance to meet and ride with the local kids in the skate parks of La Paz.
This trip was such a surreal experience, especially considering that when I left La Paz at 8 years old, I didn’t know I’d pick up BMX bike riding as a career. There’s nothing better than getting the chance to see family, old friends and make new friends, all who came out to watch us ride the Ricardo Laguna Dirt Park at the biggest, newest facility for La Paz – U.A.B.C.S universidad, autonoma de baja, california, sur. I’ll never forget watching Dalton and Jake try to learn Spanish from the La Paz BMX KR3W http://www.facebook.com/pages/La-Paz-BMX-KR3W/254218054607417.
If you get the opportunity to go to La Paz, there’s no better place where you can swim with sea lions, dolphins and whale sharks, ride the dirt parks and skate parks plus hang out with the friendly locals in one of the safest cities in North America.
I can’t send enough thanks to the people who made this possible, especially Sam Nava and Demis who quit his job just to spend a week riding with us. It’s all about riding bikes and having a blast, whether they’re BMX bikes or MTB.”
