Read here what the Scott 11 Team reports form their past World Cup tour stop in Scotland:
“We knew from the start, it was going to be hard for SCOTT11 to stay at the top of the world cup team ranking at the race in Fort William. It even got harder after Emilie Siegenthaler had to stay off the bike because of her gnarly crash in practice.
But Floriane Pugin, Nick Beer and Fabien Pedemanaud managed to keep us in first position with a brutally hard fight. SCOTT11 is now leading the team ranking with the same amount of points as Commencal Team of the Atherton family. And Emilie Siegenthaler is already back on her feet.
The last flat pedally section was where the race was decided. It was surprising how much time could be lost or won in 30 seconds of pedalling at the end of the course. Floriane Pugin was aware of this, because she had already lost more than two seconds in that part of the course in the qualifier. The rest of the team was hiking up to that section to cheer for her when she came by.
Floriane fought as hard as she possibly could and got into the finish with a lead of just 0.02 seconds. At the end, she was in third, as well as in the overall world cup standings.
Fabien Pedemanaud trashed his rear wheel up in a rock section, so it was rubbing on the sides of this frame. This made the pedalling at the bottom even harder. But Fabien put down all the power he had, and saved as many points as he could. 23rd place was still good for some points for his overall ranking, where he‘s now in 7th.
Nick Beer had said before the race, that he was going to attack hard. And that‘s what he did! He was pedalling so hard at the bottom that he almost threw up in the finish.
And what he got for it: His second best result of his career so far, a 9th place! He‘s now 15th in the overall world cup.
The excitement goes on. We are now traveling to Willingen for the Milka Wheels of Speed, and then to the third round of the world cup in Leogang, Austria.”
