What size do I have?
You find individual size charts of each product when you click on SPECS on the product detail pages. Complete size charts can be viewed and downloaded from our size chart service section. Our size charts together with instructions on how to take your measures will help you find the right size for your gear.
How do I choose the right size helmet?
When choosing the right helmet size, you can measure the circumference of the head at the widest area of the head, just above your eyebrows. This measurement corresponds to the measurement stated in the helmet size guide. For example, if your head circumference measurement is 55cm, you are most likely to fit in a S/M size helmet (S/M: 54-56 cm). Remember that each head is different and a circumference measurement of 55 cm is no guarantee that a helmet of size S/M: 55-56cm will fit perfectly depending on the shape of the head in relation to the shape of the helmet. If you think you have a demanding head shape, try our Kraken or Arctic Kraken helmet with Flextech that adapt to the shape of your head.
How do I choose the right size protector?
When choosing the right protector size, follow the body measurement guidelines as indicated on the size chart. Refer to the charts to find the perfect fit.
But please keep in mind that the indications are guidelines only and can slightly differ depending on individual body anatomies.
How to try a helmet?
A helmet should have a close but snug fit. Not too tight, not too loose. It is important that the helmet can neither ride up your forehead nor be pushed down over your eyes.
Put on the helmet in a manner so that it sits straight on your head and covers your forehead, without blocking your vision. The helmet should fit comfortably; so that it holds onto your head as you move it front and back, as well as side-to-side. The comfort pads inside the helmet should exert firm, even, but comfortable pressure against your head. The helmet fits well if the pads are in contact with all sides of your head around the helmets interior.
How to customize your fit?
Our helmet Tuned Fit System allows you to dial in your fit using different thickness comfort pads on the interior of the helmet. Your helmet comes with two sizes of comfort pads. Carefully separate the Velcro strips at room temperature to remove the pads on the inside of the helmet and swap them for the thickness you need. Your helmet package contains spare fastening points in case one of the Velcro fastening points becomes detached. If the helmet still does not fit after having adjusted it with the pads, choose another size. Comfort pads can be purchased separately in all the various sizes.
How to try a protector?
If you want your protection gear to work properly, make sure that it covers the protected area effectively. To obtain maximum protection and comfort, select the correct size and take care that the product fits tight to your body. Close all hook-and-loop fasteners and other fasteners carefully to prevent unwanted slipping and ensure maximum comfort. To obtain maximum adherence to the protected area, the product must be worn underneath the clothing.
How can I tell if my helmet has been damaged?
Your helmet is designed to absorb shock by partial destruction of the energy absorbing liner. This damage may or may not be visible to the user. Therefore, if subjected to a severe impact or blow, you should replace your helmet even if it appears undamaged.
Can my helmet resist multiple impacts?
All our helmet impact liners are made of a light, but stiff foam material called EPS foam. This protective liner is meant to condense, break, crack or fracture upon sustaining one moderate to heavy impact, so that your skull doesn?ft have to! Your helmet does not resist multiple heavy impacts. You should replace your helmet after one single severe impact.
You might find helmets with a material liner called EPP, that is meant to be a multi-impact foam. The reason why we do not use EPP is that it requires a thicker helmet than one using EPS. But most important nobody can tell you how safe your helmet is after an impact and how many more impacts it resists. The rebound characteristic of EPP is not well documented and it comes with a great amount of uncertainty. Uncertainty should be avoided when producing safety gear, this is why our helmets resist one single heavy impact and need to be replaced afterwards.
What Kind of Warranty Does My Helmet Come With?
Any TSG helmet determined by TSG to be defective in materials or workmanship within one (1) year from the date of original purchase will be repaired or replaced, at TSG?fs option, free of charge. Just take your helmet to the dealer from which it was purchased, with a letter indicating the specific reason you?fre returning the helmet, and proof of purchase. The dealer will then evaluate the claim.
How can I obtain replacement parts for my helmet?
Please contact your local dealer or distributor concerning replacement parts. You can purchase replacement interior fit pads at ridetsg.com or ask your local dealer to order them for you.
Can I use my TSG helmet for various action sports?
Each TSG summer helmet is certified for skate use as well as biking. Our winter helmets are certified for skiing and snowboarding. The most significant differences between summer and winter models are the removable earpads that come with the winter helmets. And most of our winter helmets feature mesh screened ventilation holes, mandatory by the certification standard for larger sized vents. In terms of shell and liner construction as well as shock-absorbance performance there is no difference between our summer and winter helmets.
Can I paint my helmet?
We do not recommend paints or solvents of any kind be used on the helmets. They can damage a helmet so that its protective capabilities are significantly reduced.
How often should a helmet be replaced?
TSG has a general recommendation of replacing your helmet every three years.
How Do I Store My Helmet?
After each use, allow the helmet to air dry and then store it in a cool, dry place where it won't get damaged.
Note that excessive heat can damage your helmet. For example, in direct sunlight a dark gear bag, the interior of a car, or an car trunk can get hot enough to cause heat damage (damaged helmets will appear to have uneven or bubbly surfaces).
How Do I clean my helmet?
Helmets are made of materials that can be damaged by many commonly available cleaners. Petroleum based solvents or cleaners are especially dangerous. They can damage a helmet so that its protective capabilities are reduced. Many times this damage is not visible. For best results, clean the helmet using a soft cloth or sponge, warm water and mild soap (such as a mild dish soap).
